Ramasamy Chettiar stepped into Bangalore with just Rs. 36/- in hand from Chavadipalayam, near Kangayam, Tamil Nadu. Seeing that his family had grown, he felt the need to move to Bangalore to live and earn ethically.

Upon reaching Old Tharagupet, he met Mr. Raja Venkataram Chetty. After enquiring about his background and checking his knowledge in accounting, Mr. Chetty offered Ramasamy Chettiar a position to manage his business accounts in Bangalore.

After proving his skills, he was entrusted with managing the Mysore branch of Mr. Chetty’s business. Ramasamy Chettiar successfully developed operations there, and later replicated the same model in Shivamogga.

With growing confidence and experience, Ramasamy Chettiar aspired to start his own ghee manufacturing business. Mr. Raja Venkataram Chetty, seeing potential, joined as a partner. Together, they began a successful venture, proudly supplying ghee to the British Military in Dhand (now known as Cantonment) for nearly two years using wagons.

However, due to some differences of opinion, they eventually parted ways.

Ramasamy Chettiar then brought his younger brother, Muthu Karupanna Chettiar, from Chavadipalayam to Bangalore to manage the ghee business. Muthu Karupanna Chettiar handled the process of melting butter and producing both ghee and butter for sale.

To retail these products, they rented a shop at #321 Avenue Road. Vembadiyar Chettiar was entrusted with handling sales at this branch.

The Avenue Road branch successfully operated for over 70 years.

PVKR & Co began supplying ghee and butter to major sweet shops and restaurants under the brand name Lotus Krishna, adopting a B2B model.

In 2022, to mark and celebrate over 100 years of establishment, PVKR & Co opened a new retail outlet at #6/1, Ranga Rao Road. This milestone was led by second-generation entrepreneur M. Murugeshan, in coordination with the third-generation entrepreneurs.
